fire trucks and free stuff!

today our home school group took a field trip to our local fire station. we learned a fire song, read a book about fire fighters and then we got to check out the fire trucks! baby bird was so excited about getting in the fire truck. she of course wanted to open and shut the door, shes very independent like that! after the tour they showed the kiddos the fire fighting gear and gave them their own special hats! baby bird and her little friend bo loved the hats! they are so cute!

and now for the free stuff!! im excited that my blog is growing, i now have 6 followers! woo hoo! i thought that it would be nice to do a giveaway to entice more followers. when i get 10 followers i will announce a prize. im thinking a crayon roll or library book bag! tell your friends and everytime i get 10 more followers i will do another giveaway!

my favorite!

it's so good to be home! don't get me wrong, we had an AMAZING time but there is no place like home! we didn't have any set schedule for things to do, all we knew is that we wanted to go to the beach as much as possible and eat seafood everyday! mission accomplished! we went to the beach 5 out of 7 days and ate lobster rolls, crab cakes, haddock chowder, clam chowder, fish and chips, and scallops to our hearts content! baby bird loved the beach and we probably could have spent every day at the beach and she would have been happy. the two days that we did not go to the beach we rode the train into Boston and Salem. we went to the children's museum of Boston, which was amazing! baby bird loved the countdown to kindergarten room. she loved sitting at the table and "feeding" the rabbit. we had such an amazing time and as nice as it is to be home it was really hard to leave.

i forgot to mention that while on vacation we lost a dear friend. R.I.P Banty. baby bird got banty for her first birthday and they had been inseparable until we went to the swap shop in Rockport. it either ended up in the dumpster or someone else picked it up. here is the last picture i have of banty. we had to go buy a new one and baby bird seems to have adjusted well to it. actually i think i was more upset that we lost it than she was. i cried! i wanted her to have it for the rest of her life. a little piece of her childhood that she could cherish forever. hopefully she will love this one as much as the last.

Airplanes.

i finally feel rested! baby bird finally (after weeks of talking about it!) rode on an airplane for the first time saturday. she was so excited! we had to get up at 3:00 am to drive to pittsburgh, i figured she would fall asleep in the car but no! she was so excited that she was awake the whole ride there and the whole flight! on the way to rockport she feel asleep for all of 30 minutes. i tried to get her to take a nap because after being awake for so long, noon felt like 5pm and i was exhausted! we had an eventful first two days and some wonderful sleep. now we are ready to explore....

"A" week

what an Adventure this week was! baby bird had lots of fun learning the alphabet and doing "A" activities. We started the week off by putting "A" stickers in our alphabet book, then we worked on saying the alphabet, coloring "A" pages and working on writing the letter "A". baby birds favorite activity was painting an airplane! she loved painting it and is really excited that we are riding on an airplane tomorrow! how perfect that we get to ride and airplane on "A' week and will be spending "B" week in Boston!

baby birds Nana had surgery this week and since we could not be there in person we made her a card! we cut out two hand prints and then put a piece of paper folded accordion style that said "i love you this much in the middle" in the middle! i forgot to take a picture of the final product :(

baby bird is super excited about riding in an airplane! that's all shes been talking about all week! "i gonna ride airplane" "i go Boston" "i fly above clouds"

the alphabet!

each week baby bird and i will be learning a new letter of the alphabet! (thanks to miss kerri for sharing these wonderful tips she found at http://preschoolalphabet.blogspot.com/p/home.html )

i started doing my prep work for all of the activities that i have planned this week and ended up in a full out craft session. this is probably due to my excitement about teaching but more likely linked to my new obsession: pinterest. i could spend days looking at all the wonderful ideas, it has opened a whole new world of possibilities! but enough about the wonderfulness of http://pinterest.com/ (just in case you're curious!)

2 minutes...

that's all it took. i thought baby bird was playing in her room while i was cleaning the living room. i did not have eye contact with her for 2 minutes but knew as soon as she walked in the living room with that devilish grin that she did something she wasn't supposed to do. i asked her what she was doing, and she told me that she put lotion on, since i know there is no lotion in her room i asked her to show me. she proceeded to take me the dining/craft room where she showed me the lotion....

Home..

i got shanghaied!!! my plan was to go to my moms house pick up our stuff, visit a few other people and then come back home. i got my stuff, went to visit my other mom and then ended up going back to my moms house since she was at work the first time i was there. before i knew it, it was 9:00 and my sister wanted me to stay the night so we could take the babies to the park. i hate being away from home, but it was good to spend some time with my youngest sister and sweet pea! baby bird loved it! she of course wanted to spend all her time with grammys horses!


we had fun at the park, until we got rained out! baby bird loves sweet pea and enjoyed spending time with her and her auntie.
